Franklin County

As stated in New York Executive Law Section 803-a, our purpose is to advise and assist the Adirondack Park Agency in carrying out its functions, powers and duties.

We consist of members appointed by the governing bodies of the twelve counties wholly or partly in the Adirondack Park. Our mission is to work to ensure that the interests of the people of the Adirondack Park and their local governments are protected as the Adirondack Park Agency carries out its duties set forth in the Adirondack Park Agency Act.

We support the position of Adirondack local government, and user groups, that traditional uses, including hunting, fishing, trapping, snowmobiling, road side camping, ATV riding in suitable locations, and mountain bike riding should be allowed to be continued, because such uses are critical to the economic survival of many Adirondack communities. We seek a balance that provides access, protects our sensitive and irreplaceable natural resources, and helps our communities realize the economic potential of these lands… balance. We support reasonable access to these lands for all, young and old, the physically fit and the disabled. We support a vast array of recreational opportunities to bring visitors to our towns and sustain those businesses we have and to create new opportunities for business growth and the creation of new jobs. We seek the balance between protecting both the environment and our local economies.
